Victorian shoppers will be the first in Australia to get Aldi’s Special Buys items delivered straight to their homes.

The retailer’s famous middle aisle and its unique, sell-out products, updated every Wednesday and Saturday morning, have long drawn eager shoppers into stores, thanks to its wide range of limited-time products across various categories.

And now, for the first time ever, Aldi Australia will make a selection of its coveted middle aisle items available to purchase online via DoorDash.

From Wednesday January 7, Victorian customers will be able to access select Special Buys items from the comfort of their homes.

The service is expected to roll out nationwide from Wednesday January 21, allowing shoppers the chance to add the sought-after Special Buys items to their digital cart.

The addition of Special Buys items to the delivery service comes on the back of the successful national launch of Aldi’s DoorDash grocery delivery.

Since launching grocery delivery via DoorDash last year, Aldi shoppers have eagerly awaited the arrival of the store’s iconic twice-weekly Special Buys on the platform.

For Victorian shoppers, the on-demand delivery service arrives just in time for Aldi’s much-anticipated annual back-to-school Special Buys sale.

Busy parents can beat the rush by ordering their kids’ school supplies along with their regular groceries – and have them all delivered directly to their door.

In response to the strong customer demand, Aldi Australia Group Director Simon Padovani-Ginies said the retailer is excited to now deliver its extra-special goods.

He noted that the partnership with DoorDash has already ‘been a game changer’ for those who prefer shopping online at a time and place convenient to them.

‘It has given them greater access to our Good Different shopping experience, direct to their doors through the tap of an app,’ Simon noted.

Now, being able to offer online shoppers the chance to additionally browse and buy the week’s Special Buys marks a major development for those who want to shop at Aldi without having to venture into stores.

‘It was always our ambition to bring as much of the Aldi shopping experience customers know and love us for to on-demand delivery via DoorDash,’ he said.

‘Launching Special Buys on DoorDash means shoppers can get everyday grocery essentials and our unique range of Special Buys items delivered direct to their doors.

Just as in stores, Aldi’s Special Buys range will drop on the DoorDash app on both Wednesdays and Saturdays and will be available for a limited time only.

In the past, the wide range of Special Buys items has spanned air fryers, tech gadgets, fitness equipment and beauty buys.

There are also key seasonal Special Buys customers expect, like Back-to-School essentials, Easter specials and British weeks – all of which will also be offered via the online shopping app.

‘For our Victorian shoppers, the addition of Special Buys to the DoorDash platform couldn’t come at a better time for busy parents looking to shop for great value back-to-school items from Aldi in a new and convenient way,’ said Simon.

Some of the school-ready items set to be available to purchase online this month include stationery, lunch containers, uniform basics, tech, and workbooks.

The online stationery essentials include: A4 Visual Art Diary, A4 Notebook, Coloured Pencils 24pk and Ballpoint Pens 10pk.

For those wanting to upgrade their lunchbox, there will be an Insulated Lunch Bag,  Coolpod Freezable Bento Bag, Joie Sandwich Cutters and a range of snack and sandwich containers.

This year’s back-to-school offering also includes a Premium School Backpack and a variety of school shoes, such as Premium School Joggers, Premium Leather Double Strap or Lace Up School Shoes and Premium Leather Mary Jane School Shoes.

For student-friendly gadgets, the range includes a Sound Block Bluetooth Speaker, Study Timer Lock Box and Study Flip Timer.

Aldi rolled out its highly anticipated on-demand grocery delivery service in partnership with DoorDash in September last year.

There are currently than 1,800 grocery products that can be ordered via the app – including award-winning items, fresh fruit and veg, meat, seafood, dairy, bread and household essentials.

The online shopping feature means no juggling groceries to keep up with Aldi’s notoriously fast in-store cashiers.

To order, shoppers simply download the DoorDash app or visit the website and search for ‘Aldi’ on the platform.

Customers can then browse items available at their local store and add them to their online cart to purchase.

Shoppers can also choose whether they want their ‘on-demand’ order delivered as soon as possible, or in a later time window that suits them, with all items then delivered right to the customer’s door.
